Glancing deep into the rare padparadscha sapphire’s soul, the House's designers observed the elegant inclusions, small round and elongated droplets on a smooth, crystal clear surface that reminded them of an elegant lotus blossom, resting calmly on the waters. The harmonious design calls back the gemstone's unique inner world and carries its beholder's mind into peaceful tranquillity.

To cast the many filigree, intertwining components of this extraordinary masterpiece, matching them perfectly with one another, is a challenge truly worthy of the master jewellers and goldsmiths in the Gübelin ateliers. Working hand in hand for hundreds of hours, the artisans created this unique treasure from the initial cast down to the final assembly.

Process

The House of Gübelin's masterpieces are conceived, designed, crafted and lovingly finished in the Gübelin ateliers in Lucerne, Switzerland. Every step of the process is executed by the respective master craftsman to ensure the highest standard the Swiss House adheres to.

Next to the magnificent centre stone, a padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka, 14 cabochon-cut and 25 round fancy-coloured sapphires, totalling 9.87 ct as well as scintillating brilliant cut diamonds of together 5.58 ct, decorate the flowing stands and petals of the Rising Lotus ring. A truly special moment occurs when Gübelin artisans place the signature of the House, a single ruby, into its place, transforming the jewel from a unique treasure into a true Gübelin masterpiece.

This pinkish-orange padparadscha sapphire is cushion-shaped and has been cut as a modified brilliant with a step cut pavilion.
